A lot of you guys have been asking me about my afternoon Matcha drink…
Just kidding, only a few friends have pinged me asking for the recipe after sharing a picture of it on my stories- I just HAD to start the blog like that because my husband LOVES to poke fun at the cheesy influencer openers we hear daily on social media… it made me chuckle…
Anyway! In all seriousness, one of my favorite new routines includes an afternoon “tea break”. Depending on the day, temperature, schedule, I usually make something at home (with the occasional outing to a local coffee shop with exquisite tea options like Hyperion in Downtown Fredericksburg). 🌱
This little green drink is a delicious way to recharge and give my body some serious love at the same time. Not only does it taste amazing, but it’s packed with so many benefits. Plus, it’s super customizable! So whether you’re into almond milk, oat milk, or you love a rich, creamy breve (half-and-half), I’ve got you covered. Let’s get into the details of my daily matcha latte routine, because trust me, once you try it, you’ll be hooked!
First off, let’s talk about matcha. You’ve probably heard that it’s a superfood, but what does that ACTUALLY mean? Matcha is powdered green tea that comes from grinding whole tea leaves. That means when you drink it, you’re getting all the benefits of the entire leaf — antioxidants, chlorophyll, and L-theanine, which promotes a calm focus without the jitters. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for the afternoon when you need energy but don’t want that 3 PM crash.
To make it EXTRA green? I add some greens powder for that extra boost of vitamins and minerals, and I always make sure to include collagen powder for its awesome skin, hair, and joint benefits. It’s a great way to turn a regular matcha into a full-blown wellness drink.
I’m going to walk you through my go-to recipe, and trust me, it’s AH-MAY-ZZZINNGGG!
I wont make you scroll through 20 pages of my whole life story to find the recipe. Let’s dive right in!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Both hot and iced versions of this latte are incredible, but it all depends on the vibe you’re going for. Hot matcha lattes are cozy and comforting, while iced matchas are so refreshing, especially if it’s a warm day.
I make mine iced most of the time, but on chilly days, there’s nothing better than sipping on a warm, frothy matcha latte as an afternoon treat.
This isn’t just a tasty drink — it’s a powerhouse of goodness for your bod! Here’s why you should start drinking it too:
Let’s talk numbers for a sec — I count macros and this was important to ensure it fit in my daily calculations. Here’s an average breakdown (obviously, your numbers will vary depending on what ingredients you use, but this is a good estimate!):
So overall, you’re looking at a $2-$3 latte (depending on your ingredients), which is WAY cheaper than buying one at Starbucks, which averages about $5-$6! Plus, you’re getting a nutrient-packed drink that’s custom-made and tailored to your exact preferences. AND the extra protein for my fitness girlies…
Easy peezy Matcha squeezy! My go-to matcha latte recipe that I make nearly every afternoon is now out in the world and may be on rotation in your daily routine soon. It’s quick, customizable, and packed with health benefits. Whether you’re making it hot or iced, you can’t go wrong. If you’re looking for an energizing yet calming drink to get you through the afternoon slump (without the jitters), this matcha latte is the answer. I promise!
Plus, the honey and collagen make it feel like a little treat, and you know what they(I) [always] say- TREAT YO SELF! 💥
Give it a try, and let me know what you think! Do you have a favorite matcha combo? Drop it in the comments or tag me on social when you try this out. I can’t wait to hear what you think! 💚
