When I tell someone I am a fitness photographer, it may not be immediately clear what it is I actually do.
They may think, OK! She is a sports photographer. Which isn’t entirely wrong. I do capture moments at sporting events, qualifying those sessions as Sports Photography. But I also do A LOT more than photograph athletes competing for a title at a game or competition.
Fitness brands encompass a wide range of sports, athletes, ages, genders, and skill levels. Fitness applies to all, and impacts everyone differently. As a runner, the running community has a special place in my heart, as do running brands that support and encourage women to pursue a sport that, until 1967, was advertised as a MAN’S SPORT.
Oh how times have changed!
Oiselle is a brand that has stuck out in my running journey since they opened their doors in 2007. They focus on supporting and encouraging women with amazing community efforts and apparel that makes us feel powerful, strong, and capable of achieving anything!
Gathering these ladies for an evening under the setting sun in their Oiselle apparel was just like coming out with a group of friends to do a much-anticipated workout. We laughed, we sprinted, we stretched… And we grew a sisterhood of runners dedicated to a sport that welcomes everyone from every stage of life and every level of fitness.
And that’s what I believe being a Fitness Photographer is all about– photographing the people and companies who celebrate a life rooted in movement. It’s all about storytelling, and shining light on the people who are out to improve their communities, one workout at a time!
